In vitro efficient protocol for micro propagation through sugarcaneleave regeneration

Micro-propagation in sugarcane of desirable clone or varieties wasdone through regeneration of piece leave (leave disk) in five varieties ofsugarcane. All genotypes responded for shoot initiation on same media.However significant genotypic response for shoot initiation, number ofshoots / explant, shoot length, shoots multiplication, days to rootinitiation and root length was found on same media formulation. Phenolicexudations were minimum or no phenolic was found from explants givingshoot. All genotype gave shoot initiation and 3-5 explants producedshoots. The number of shoots per explants was 3.66 to 5. 00. It wasproved from the present studies that micro propagation through leaveregeneration is faster method in vitro than others.
