The level and changes in retail prices of selected species of fruit and vegetables in Poland in the years 1990-99 were investigated. The retail prices of fruit and vegetables were analysed against a background of domestic production of fruit and vegetables as well as the world production and the import of southern fruit to Poland and also compared to the retail prices of other food products such as bread, beef, pork ham, cottage cheese, sugar and potatoes. In these analyses four species of fruit and five species of vegetables prevailing in the structure of consumption in Poland were taken into account.
