The primary objective of this study was to determine how various weed plants differ in their cations, nitrogen, phosphorus and carbohydrate content. Samples of 18 species were collected from very fertile garden soils and from poor soils of idle lands. Marked differences were found for bivalent (Ca+Mg) and monovalent ions (K+Na) content in plants under investigation. The surprisingly high correlation coefficients were found between carbohydrate group, nitrogen and sum of cations content (Ca+Mg+K+Na)
