Effect of weed biomass on the initial growth of seedlings of three cereal species and on the total soil concentrations of phenolic compounds. Pt. 2. Changes in total content of phenolic compounds in the soil

The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of biomass from the above-ground parts of Centaurea cyanus L. and Poa annua L. as well as the effect of their different doses on the content of phenolic compounds in the soil over different cereal species grown on it. The total content of phenolic compounds was measured by the colorimetric method using the Folin-Ciocalteau reagent. The weeds biomass addition increased the total content of phenolic compounds in the soil. It was shown that the cereal species influenced in an important way the content of phenolics in the soil
