The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between enzymatic activity of soil and crop yields of cherry trees. The following methods of soil management systems in tree rows were compared: herbicide fallow, black polyethylene foil, wheat straw mulch, mechanical cultivation. Soil management methods and climatic conditions in consecutive vegetation periods affected both tree yielding and orchard soil enzymatic activity. The best results were obtained in the treatment with straw mulch, followed by polyethylene mulch, mechanical cultivation and use of herbicides
