The effect of manure and mineral nitrogen fertilization on yielding and chlorophyll and magnesium content in leaves of stinging nettle in first and second year of cultivation was estimated. In the first experiment plots were fertilized with manure two weeks before the planting of runners in doses of 0, 30, 60 t/ha with nitrogen supplementation every year in ratios 50 kg N/ha. In the second experiment with mineral fertilization, nitrogen was supplied in doses 50, 50 + 50, 50 + 2 x 50, 100 + 2 x 50 kg N/ha. Fertilization had a significant effect on the yield of herb and leaves as well as chlorophyll and magnesium content. In both years of the study the highest yields of fresh herb and leaves were obtained in treatments supplied with 150-200 kg N/ha. Manuring enhanced the yields of herb and leaves only in the first year, while in the second year improved the quality of the produced herb. Nitrogen fertilization and manure application increased the chlorophyll content in the nettle leaves
