Study on the efficiency of certain insecticides against corn thrips and leaf eating beetle on sweet corn was carried out at faculty of Agriculture Nakornsrithammarat. The experiment was arranged in randomized complete block design with 3 replications. The insecticides were sprayed two times at 53 and 58 days after sweet corn emergence. The effect of insecticide applications was evaluated by reduction of infested insects. It was found that two applications of carbaryl were the most effective in controlling corn thrips whereas those of Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki were the least effective. Treatments with insecticides had highly significant to reduce the infestation of leaf eating beetle as compared with control. There was no significant different among treatments with insecticides. At harvest, two applications of carbaryl gave the highest yields with 1,287.11 kg/rai. Economic threshold of corn thrips and leaf eating beetle should be studied to determine making decision of farmer for insecticide application.
