Regional yield trial of 13 mungbean lines in Surin Campus
1995
Thanapumin Sakared (Rajamangala Inst. of Technology. Surin Campus, Surin (Thailand))
This trial was made on ten mungbean lines: SAY 36-1, SAY 36-2, SAY 36-3, SAY 36-4, SAY 36-6, SAY 36-7, SAY 36-8, SAY 36-9, SAY 36-10 and SAY 36-11, and other three checking varieties: VC-2745-77, KPS 1 and CN-36, to compare their yield and other agronomic characteristics, at Rajamangala Institute of Technology, Surin Campus, Surin. The trial started from July 24, 1993 to October 31, 1993. The purpose was to find out the good varieties that can give high yield and well adapted under the climate condition in surin area. Experimental design was RCBD with four replications. The results showed that there was no statistical difference in yield, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, flowering date (50 percent), harvesting date, height at harvesting date, and number of harvested plants among these mungbean lines. Only the weight of 100 seeds of each line was found statistically different. The highest weight was that of VC-2745-77 line that is 5.58 grams in dry weight. However, there were some varieties; VC-2745-77, SAY 36-4, SAY 36-2, SAY 36-11 etc., had the tendency to produce higher yield, that is 205, 202, 198, 197 kg/rai respectively. But, in fact all these varieties can be grown in Surin area.
