Capacity of predator ants on controlling teak beehole borer, xyleutes ceramicus

Study on capacity of predator ants on controlling teak beehole borer (Xyleutes ceramicus) was carried out at Phob Pra and Mae Lamo Plantations, Tak province, from October 1996 to September 1997. The main purpose was to know the capacity of natural predator ants on controlling teak beehole borer. Numbers of their holes between 1996 and 1997 were counted. At Mae Lamo Plantation, there were 108 teaks which were bored and 167 holes in 1996 and 103 teaks and 122 holes in 1997. Decreasing percentages were 17.58 and 26.95, respectively. For Phob Pra Plantation, there were 26 teaks and 29 holes in 1996 and 19 teaks and 19 holes in 1997. Decreasing percentages were 26.92 and 34.48, respectively.
