The field study conducted over a four year period in a Mediterranean "macchia" forest community, demonstrates that large open top chambers are technological tools that can be employed to simulate a "rich" carbon dioxide environment climate scenario even under harsh environmental conditions like those obtaining in the Mediterranean region particularly during summer months.
