Despite the importance of indigenous fruit trees to many rural communities in Mozambique, very little research has been done on this subject. The limited research done by the CEF Forest Research Centre in the Gaza and Manica provinces has shown that these fruits are an important source of nutritious food and income for rural households especially during drought years. This paper highlights some of the work done on indigennous fruits to date and the major constraints being faced.
