Plasma cholesterol, indol, urea and protein in kids exposed to direct solar radiation

Fifteen six months old kids of Anglonubian (An), Bulgarian white (Bw) and Toggenburg (Tg) breeds were used to study the effect of solar radiation for six hours (8 a.m. - 1 p.m.) on plasma levels of cholesterol, indol, urea and total protein. Temperature humidity index at 1 p.m. was 84. Exposure to solar radiation caused an increase of plasma cholesterol level in Tg (P0.05) and An (P0.05) kids but no effect on cholesterol level in Bw kids.Cholesterol values in Tg kids were higher (P0.05) then those in Bw kids.Exposure to heat resulted in higher plasma level of urea (P0.05) in Tg kids that in Bw kids. The result of the present study are interpreted in the light of the recent concerning the effect of heat stress on cellular metabolism.
