Uptake of Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb and Cd from Virginia tobacco

There has been carried out a comparative research, which to allow us to determine the connection between the total content of Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb and Cd in the soils, the quantity of their mobile forms and the accumulation depots in the vegetative organs of the Virginia tobacco. A direct connection between the quantity of the mobile forms and their accumulation in the plants was found. The easy uptake of lead and cadmium and their considerable accumulation in all organs makes tobacco an interesting plant in terms of phytoremediation.
