[Application of RYR1 gene in the selection programs in pig breeding]

Results of DNA testing of purebred and crossbred sire boars and replacement young animals of different Belarusian breeds, research results of genetic polymorphism of RYR1gene study were presented. Variability of mutant allele of RYR1 gene frequency was revealed both on interbreed and interpopulation levels. Application of RYR1 gene polymorphism in the selection process required the varied approach depending on the breed, genetic structure of population, concrete program of selection. The scheme of pig breeding taking into consideration the results of DNA testing on RYR1 gene was proposed
