The data about disease symptoms, isolation of causal agent, pathogenic and bacteriological characteristics of the strain s isolated from diseased cherry trees are given. Symptoms appeared as buds dieback of cherry trees diseased. In spring the buds diseased failed to burst and necrotic tissues around are sunken and brown purple in colour. On nutrient agar enriched with sucrose (5%) pathogen form levan type colonies as well as produced a green fluorescent pigment on King medium B (KB). The strains investigated incited HR in tobacco leaves; negative results were recorded in tests on pear, limon, pepper fruits and bean pods, artificially inoculated. Bacterial strains originating from cherry trees are gramnegative and aerobic (O/F test); they were oxidase, pectinase and arginine dihydrolase negative. On the basis of the results obtained, it was concluded that disease noticed on cherry trees was caused by Pseudomonas syringae bacterium. Identification to which pathovar of P. syringae belongs is in progress.
