Irrigation - a condition for high and stable corn production in the Vojvodina Province [Serbia and Montenegro]

Long-term research results have been analyzed to see the effect of drought on yield performance in corn, i.e., we have assessed possibilities for corn production under irrigation conditions in the Vojvodina Province. Irrigation increased corn yield over the study period by 2.917 t/ha or 28.7%. The highest yield was obtained in irrigation (16.325 t/ha) in 1990. The lowest yield was obtained in the same year in the non-irrigated variant (5.783 t/ha). In the study period, the average water consumption for ET during corn growing season was 517.1 mm in irrigation and 460.5 mm in the non-irrigated control variant.
