The aim of the present study is protection and conservation of newt populations (Triturus alpestris, Triturus vulgaris and Triturus carnifex) in karst terrain of Montenegro, range characteristics of this species, simpatry and sintopy, rare alternative ways of ontogenetic cycle in their populations (facultative paedomorphosis, paedogenesis). The investigated terrain is very significant for the newt protection and conservation and it is globally important for interspecies and intraspecies diversity of herpetofauna in Europe.
