Mathematical relationship, in the form of matrix equation, for predicting quantitative and qualitative milling effects and energy requirements on the first break milling of wheat, has been defined. Predictions were compared with the actual quantitative and qualitative milling effects and energy requirements obtained by experimental milling of the samples of wheat varieties Sonata and Sofija and samples of wheat mixtures from these varieties. High level of agreement between predicted and experimental results, proved by high average accuracy of predicting particle size distribution, ash content in the size fractions of the milling output, protein content in the size fractions of the milling output and energy requirements, confirms the defined mathematical model showing that breakage matrix approach can be successfully used for predicting quantitative and qualitative milling effects as well as energy requirements.
