The influence of herbicides and their mixtures on total proteins content and on proper proteins in potato tubers

Field experiments were carried out from 1999 to 2001 in order to determine the influence of herbicides and their mixtures on protein concentrations in the tubers of three potato varieties, Ania, Baszta and Rywal. The application of herbicides led to an increase in total proteins concentrations by 0.09-0.18% and in proper proteins concentrations by 0.15-0.34%. Statistical analysis revealed the importance of cultivar and weather conditions. The variety Rywal showed the highest protein concentration, Baszta the least one. Dry weather conditions (in 2001) had a positive influence on protein concentrations.
