Regional classification of the Czech Republic, based on the production orientation of agricultural enterprises

The aim of this study was to classify Czech districts according to the main agricultural commodities produced for the purpose of direct payments from EU. The districts were divided into 4 main regions as follows: region I includes districts with cattle breeding and pastures occupying more than 30% of agricultural land (AL); region II is characterized by mixed animal production with cattle breeding predominating, permanent pastures occupying more than 20% of AL; region III includes districts with mixed crops and animal production with the percentage of arable land higher that 70%; region IV is characterized mainly by crop production with the percentage of arable land superior to 80%. The main data concerning the agricultural production in different districts as well as in the whole country are presented.
