The effects of the continuous tomato thinning method, which restricts the number of fruit per limb to between 3 and 5, on profitability and work efficiency were investigated. In the continuous tomato thinning method, although the flower and fruit thinning requires extra labor hours, it made possible a less labor-intensive harvest and reduced overall labor hours. The harvesting rate was 100 % in areas where the fruit thinning method was practiced (4 fruits per limb), but this was offset by concerns of overwork during the specific periods of cultivation. It was concluded that the optimal number of fruit per limb would be 3 during the initial and middle periods of cultivation and 4 to 5 during the late period of cultivation.
