Paddy soils in Shonai area of Yamagata pref. were categorized in term of soil type, and soil map about silicon availability was constructed. Results of this investigation were as follows: 1 Available silicon content measured with 2 weeks incubation method had close relation with stem and leaf silicon content of maturation period. It is considered that this analytical value can be used to compare soil silicon availability. 2 Available silicon content with incubation method have negative correlation with soil sand content and have positive correlation with silt content. There is no correlation between available silicon content and soil clay content. Soil with finer texture tend to be abound with available silicon content. But in this research the source of soluble silicon is not identified, because there is close correlation between soil silt content and soil clay content. 3 Each soil is classificated with location area, soil texture of plow layer, groundwater level. The location area had the most close correlation with available silicon content measured with 2 weeks incubation method, and soil texture was the second-most, investigated statistically by quantification type I. Estimated value by multiple regression formula of quantification type I was divided into 6 kinds, and soil map about silicon availability was expressed using a different color for each kind.
