To arrest global warming, it is also expected that the effect of the atmospheric CO2 storage of urban green spaces will be an important factor. On the other hand, there is very little basic data on the amount of atmospheric CO2 storage per tree-crown-covered area, which is needed when the amount of atmospheric CO2 storage of urban green spaces is calculated. Because of this situation, the purpose of this study was to estimate the amount of atmospheric CO2 storage per tree-crown-covered area in urban green spaces. The urban green spaces considered in this study were "roadside trees", "urban parks" and "an urban forest". The results are follows: 1) Regarding the amount of tree carbon stored per tree-crown-covered area of 1 ha, the average for "roadside trees' was 66,083 kg-C/ha, that for "tree-crown-covered grounds of urban parks" was 55,588 kg-C/ha, and that for "the urban forest" was 54,189 kg-C/ha. 2) Regarding the amount of carbon sequestration per tree-crown-covered area of 1 ha, the average for "roadside trees" was 2,161 kg-C/ha.yr, that for "tree-crown-covered grounds of urban parks" was 2,251 kg-C/ha.yr, and that for "the urban forest" was 2,756 kg-C/ha.yr.
