Methods and criteria for evaluating quality of study program in higher education institutions

This paper describes methodology of evaluating quality of a study program. This methodology is built on five assessment criteria (content and offered opportunities of study program, offered opportunity to develop student individual skills by study process organization, material endowment and methodical provision of the study program, applicability of the study program) and three methods (expert method, reference method and survey method). Survey is one of the most actual methods to evaluate quality of study program. This method allows improving study program in the future according to real demands of labour market. This method is exemplified in the future according to real demands of labour market. This method is exemplified in the following study programs: Bachelor of Business administration, Doctor of Economics and Doctor of Business administration. In accordance with the research results practical recommendations will be made to Academic department of the University of Latvia, to faculties and its departments, to directors of study programs and to the government and scientific institutions that are responsible for balanced development of economics and its separate fields.
