The aim of the report is to show the present situation (year 2003) on management of apartment houses in the Republic of Latvia. The subject of housing stock is mainly post-war block of flats and other multi-storey buildings erected in the Soviet period. The report investigates Housing management matters and the place of it within contemporary Housing policy of the Republic of Latvia as well as influence from the privatisation process of apartment houses. The report is divided into three main parts - the housing privatisation, statutory regulations and housing management, including the forms of it and involved parties. In the full version each section has its own conclusion on the discussed matter. The summary contains the final analysis on the whole thesis. This overview of the current situation in Latvia is valuable as a background for further research on more specific issues. Detailed research and analysis are made on the privatisation of an apartment house and the loan taking at the bank.
