A new species of the genus Propotamochoerus from lower Chinji formationof lower Siwaliks, district Chakwal, Punjab, Pakistan

A new suid Propotamochoems chinjiensis is described from lower Chinjiformation of Lower Siwaliks. It is differentiated from other species of thegenus by its primitive nature of small sized molar teeth and its record fromLower Chinji Formation of Siwaliks. Tuberculated talon of M3 and accessoryconule of Paracone separate it from the genera Conohyus and Hyotheriumrespectively. Dicoryphochoerus instabilis Pilgrim (1926) because of small size ofits premolar, the simple crown and occurence in Chinji Formation, is referredto the species Propotamochoerus chinjiensis n.sp.
