The purpose of the experiment was to determine potassium utilization by potatoes cv. Maryna in the first year after potassium salt application. Potassium utilization by potato tubers was determined under the conditions of soil fertilized without manure or on 30 t/ha of manure ploughed down in autumn. In the soil with and without manure, four levels of mineral fertilization have been used in the spring. On the basis of tubers yield and potassium content in dry matter of tubers, the uptake of this element by tubers yield was determined. The analyses showed that potassium utilization from potassium salt ranged from about 56 percent under the conditions without manure to about 64 percent in the manured soil
