Effectiveness and the antagonistic mechanism between Trichoderma harzianum (Th-LARTC no. 2) and five pathogenic fungi of pepper (Capsicum annuum L), Sclerotium rolfsii, Choanephora sp., Fusarium sp., Colletotrichum sp. and Gloeosporium sp. were studied in laboratory. The results showed that the isolate of Th-LARTC no. 2 was an antagonist to the five pathogens. Within 5 days after contact, green growth of Th-LARTC no. 2 was completely visible on the colony of the five pathogens. It showed very high inhibition to Choanephora sp. high inhibition to S. rolfsii and Gloeosporium sp., and moderate inhibition to Colletotrichum sp. and Fusarium sp. Th-LARTC no. 2 could also inhibit sclerotial production more than 70 percent but it did not show the parasitism to sclerotia of S. rolfsii. On microscopic observation, Th-LARTC no. 2 was found to parasitize on the hyphae of Choanephora sp. and S. rolfsii but not on Colletotrichum sp., Fusarium sp. and Gloeosporium sp.. The hyphae of Th-LARTC no. 2 penetrated into the hyphae of S. rolfsii and Choanephora sp.. It coiled around and broke up only the hyphae of S. rolfsii.
