Influence of growth stage on the glyphosate efficacy for barnyardgrass ( Echinochloa crus-galli (L) Beauv.) control was investigated under greenhouse conditions. The experiment was arranged as factorial in randomized complete block design with 4 replications. Three growth stages (3-4,5-6 leaf stages and early tillering stage ) of barnyardgrass and 3 rates of glyphosate gave better control on barnyardgrass at 180, 360 and 540 g (a.e.) per rai were applied. The results showed that all rates of glyphosate gave better control on barnyard at 3-4 and 5-6 leaf stages than those of early tillering stage. In addition, less number of days to plant death and lower shoot dry weight (as percent of untreated plant) of younger plants were obtained when compared with early tillernig stage. However, all rates of glyphosate showed no effect on barnyardgrass control under the same growth stage , except for early tillering stage, the rate of glyphosate 540 g (a.e.) per rai gave better control than those of 180 g (a.e.) per rai.
