Five silkworm hybrids [§і1§з§·2, 1013§з1014, 19§з20, (19x1013)x(20x1014) and (CH1x§Є1)x (M2xH2)] were studied for sericin content and dissolution behavior of sericin in raw silk filament by means of an ultraviolet absorbing spectroscopy method at a wave length of 280 nm. Among the hybrids, the 1013x1014 hybrid had the lowest value of sericin content ЁC 23.42 % for female and 23.56 % for male individuals. The highest value was obtained for (19x1013)x(20x1014) ЁC 25.57 % for female and 26.53 % for male individuals. The best characteristic of dissolution behavior of sericin was obtained for 1013x1014. The analysis of variance showed that the hybrid had a highly significant effect (PЎЬ0.001) on the absorption of sericin for the whole period of dissolution time of sericin. This factor also caused a highly significant effect (PЎЬ0.001) on the variation of sericin content in raw silk filament. The sex had no significant influence on the variation of the above mentioned traits. The 1013x1014 hybrid had the highest (in absolute values) LS-estimate for sericin content depending on the factor of hybrid (ЁC 0.89 % compared to the average for the model).
