Use of multigerm pollinators with valuable combining abilities in developing of monogerm sugar beet hybrids
2006
Uchkunova, K.
New groups of tetraploid multigerm pollinators, including ones tolerant to the viral disease rhizomania were developed by individual and individual-family selection followed by poly-cross by combining ability. The tests were carried out under normal conditions, using for comparison a group standard of three certified varieties( commercial varieties). The investigation proved that tetraploid multigerm pollinators with high combining ability (9661, 4161, 5319R) were developed. The triploid hybrids developed with their participation have the potential of yielding over 500 kg sugar/da. The hybrids also possessed very good resistance to Cercospora Leas spots.
