The author was the President of the Hungarian Scientific Society for Food Industry (MÉTE) in the five-year-period between 2000 and 2004. In 2005 it became due to elect a new management first to the central organization, then to the different industrial sections. On the General Assembly of MÉTE convened to elect a new management on 21 September 2005 the author evaluated the last five-year-activity of MÉTE, analysed its present situation and outlined the future tasks.
