The World Health Organization recommends to eat at least 400 g fruits and vegetables every day. As to Hungary, while in 1990 only 28 percent of the population met these minimum requirements, in 2001 already 31 percent. Between the two surveys the consumption significantly dropped but after 1997 it began to rise again; so it could be stated that in 2001 "we were at the same point where we started from". Measuring frequency of the consumption enables us to make a more profound comparison. At an international level there are different recommendations regarding the daily frequency of fruits and vegetables consumption.
