Influence of the season and number of harvests on digestibility and production of herbage | Influencia de la época y frecuencia de corte sobre la digestibilidad y producción de hierba

En el presente trabajo se ha estudiado, a lo largo de siete años, la influencia de la frecuencia y de la época de siega sobre la digestibilidad in vitro de la hierba obtenida en un prado de la Montaña de León, con distintos tratamientos de fertilización NPK. Durante los años en que este prado se segó en dos ocasiones (junio y septiembre) pudo apreciarse que la digestibilidad de la hierba obtenida en el primer corte (junio) era menor que aquélla recogida tras el rebrote (septiembre), lo cual podía explicarse como consecuencia de la mayor proporción de gramíneas en un avanzado estado de desarrollo obtenida en junio. Cuando se intensificó el manejo del prado con tres cortes anuales (primavera, verano y otoño) pudo apreciarse que la digestibilidad del primer corte mejoraba gracias al adelanto de la fecha de siega y que la producción conjunta de los dos rebrotes, de verano y otoño, era más elevada que la obtenida en el rebrote único del sistema de explotación de dos cortes (septiembre). En este sentido, cuando se compararon ambos tipos de manejo se observó que, aunque la producción de materia seca a lo largo de todo el año era similar en ambos casos, la de materia seca digestible era más elevada al realizar tres cortes anuales en vez de dos.

英语. During seven years the influence of the season of harvest and the number of cuts on the digestibility and production of the herbage obtained in mountain meadows has been studied. When the meadows were harvested twice per year (June and September) the herbage obtained in the first cut showed a lower digestibility than that corresponding to September. This was due to the higher content of grasses in an advanced stage of maturity harvested in June. On the other hand, when the management was changed to three cuts per year (spring, summer and autumn) it could be observed that the digestibility of the first cut was improved thanks to the earlier harvest. Moreover, the total production obtained with both regrowths (summer and autumn) was higher compared to that obtained in the unique regrowth of the two cuts system (September). These are the reasons why the total annual production of digestible dry matter was higher for the three cuts system compared to the two cuts system.
