Triticale is a new crop belongs to cereals which is a cross between wheat and rye. This research was conducted to investigate the grain yield and main agronomic characteristics influencing yield of 310 triticale lines in three different observation nurseries. 150 lines 34 th ITSN, 140 lines 11 th FWTCL received from CIMMYT and 20 lines PTYT selected in Maragheh. The research was carried out in Maragheh and Sararood cold and moderate cold dryland research stations of Dryland Agriculture Research institute in 2002-03. Comparing of triticale lines with wheat varieties as check showed that triticale lines had more TKW. The lines belonging to FWTCL were later in maturity than those in ITSN. Overally, ITSN lines were earlier, higher and more fertile in both Maragheh and Sararood. In Maragheh the seeds of all lines in FWTCL were shrinkage. So no lines were selected from FWTCL but 25 and 5 linesselected from ITSN and PTYT, respectively. In Sararood 27 and 28 line were selected from FWTCL and ITSN, respectively. However the best lines of ITSN had more yield and earlier comparing to the best lines of FWTCL. According to the results it can be concluded that there is a good potential for cropping of triticale in drylands of Iran.
