The Analysis of the Management Factors in Rice Farms in Fars province

Rice is the important cereal which is exclusively planted for the man feedings, and is the main food for more than half people of the world. During a period of rice planting, water, capital and labor relatively used more than the other cereals. So for producing rice, it is necessary to conduct more researches about the correct management operation particularly in the use of these rare resources. In this study to analyze the management factors for the rice farms in Fars province by two stages cluster sampling plan in Marvdasht and Mamassany, two towns which have the most area of planting rice and producing in Fars, a number of samples were selected. Considering the gathered information, at first the average production function was estimated. Then, technical efficiency of producers and its effective factors were estimated by stochastic frontier production function using of front.4 computer software. The results show that the average technical efficiency in Marvdasht and Mamassany are 49.05 and 78.89 percent, respectively. In Marvdasht, the number of the workers and the amount of phosphate fertilizer used were over optimal level and urine fertilizer was used less But in Mamassany, manure, urine fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer and the amount of water used were over optimal level. Periodical management in three stages, planting, during growing and harvesting has had a great role in the rate of the producers efficiency in both cities. in Marvdasht, all the date of the first irrigation, the time of transplanting (seedling), the first fertilization, the type of the paddy and the ownership of the machinaries have had a great role upon the producers technical efficiency. On the other hand, in Mamassany, the date of the first irrigation, the time used for the land preparation, the variety of the paddy seeds, and the rotation period had affected greatly on the producers technical efficiency.
