Estimating grass and grass silage degradation characteristics by in situ and in vitro gas production methods [Lolium perenne L.]

英语. Fermentation characteristics of grass and grass silage at different maturities were studied using in situ and in vitro gas production methods. In situ data determined difference between grass and silage. Degradable fraction decreased as grass matured, while the undegradable fraction increased. Rate of degradation (kd) was slower for silage than fresh grass. Gas production method (GP) data showed that fermentation of degradable fraction was different between stage of maturity in both grass and silage. Other data did not show any difference, with the exception for the rate of GP of soluble and undegradable fraction. The in situ degradation characteristics were estimated from GP characteristics. The degradable and undegradable fractions could be estimated by multiple relationships. Using the three-phases model for gas production kd and fermentable organic matter, they could be estimated from the same parameters. The only in situ parameter that could not be estimated with GP parameters was the soluble fraction. The GP method and the three-phases model provided to be an alternative to the in situ method for animal feed evaluations

意大利语. [Sono state studiate le caratteristiche di fermentazione dell´erba e dell´insilato d´erba a stadi diversi di maturazione utilizzando metodi di produzione di gas in situ e in vitro. I dati derivati dalle prove in situ hanno determinato la differenza fra erba e insilato. La frazione degradabile è diminuita all´aumentare della maturazione, mentre la frazione non degradabile aumentava. La velocità di degradazione (kd) era inferiore per l´insilato rispetto al materiale fresco. I dati ottenuti dal metodo di produzione di gas (GP) hanno dimostrato che la fermentazione della frazione degradabile era diversa fra gli stadi di maturazione sia nell´erba, sia nell´insilato. Altri dati non hanno evidenziato alcuna differenza, con l´eccezione della velocità di GP della frazione solubile e non degradabile. Le caratteristiche della degradazione in situ sono state stimate a partire dalle caratteristiche di GP. Le frazioni degradabile e non degradabile potevano essere stimate mediante relazioni multiple. Utilizzando il modello a tre fasi per la kd della produzione di gas e la sostanza organica fermentabile, si è potuto stimarle dagli stessi parametri. L´unico parametro in situ che non si è potuto stimare con i parametri di GP è stata la frazione solubile.
