Plein air in pig farms of Sardinia: an overall description

英语. The Sardinia is the only region of Italy where the yield deriving from animal husbandry exceeds the product from agriculture. The excessive exploitation of pasture has also caused damages to the ecosystem of the island: currently, Sardinia is comprised among the zones at risk of desertification in the Mediterranean region. However, swine husbandry is the less specialized one among all animal production sectors and the one with less possibility of development because of the occurrence of African swine fever at endemic level in the most impervious areas of the territory, where swine are kept in wild condition. Herein, the plein air system (widely experienced also in Sardinia) is proposed for the control of areas where the Eradication Plans of African swine fever would have the major effects, but also to obtain the traditionally demanded products

Il sovrapascolamento ha persino causato danni all'ecosistema locale: oggi questa regione viene compresa tra le zone a rischio di desertificazione nel Mediterraneo. Tuttavia, in quest'isola a forte vocazione zootecnica, la suinicoltura risulta al momento il comparto zootecnico meno specializzato e quello con minor possibilità di sviluppo, data la presenza della PSA a livello endemico nelle zone più impervie del territorio, dove viene praticato il sistema brado. In questa sede viene proposto il modello plein air (già ampiamente sperimentato anche in Sardegna) per il controllo delle zone dove i Piani di Risanamento per PSA dovrebbero andare maggiormente a incidere, ma anche per l'ottenimento del prodotto che la tradizione locale da sempre richiede
