A new feed additive Penergetic-T was tested for calves' growth and development parameters on 6 to 18 weeks old calves of Latvian brown breed (n=20). Feed additive Penergetic-T stimulated appetite in the trial group calves: during the recording period each animal consumed 8 MJ ME of feed more than in the control group. The new feed additive also favored growth of calves. The average live weight gain of trial group animals exceeded that of the control group by 25 g daily (p is less than 0.05). Considering the comparatively higher weight gain indices and the more complete utilization of the consumed feed stuffs in the trial group, for a 1 kg live weight gain the calves of the trial group consumed feed worth LVL 0.51, which was slightly less than in the control group (LVL 0.52).
