Yielding and nutritive value of mixtures of lucerne with orchard grass and sainfoin under different grazing systems

The objective of the study was to determine the effect of short- and long-term grazing of lucerne mixtures with orchard grass and sainfoin on yields, pasture utilization, chemical composition, and persistence of lucerne plants in conditions of cows grazing. The short-time grazing (1-2 days of grazing and 30 days regrowing) was found to be more beneficial for fresh and dry matter yields of the mixtures and for the persistence of lucerne than the long-term grazing scheme (7-8 days of grazing followed by 23-24 days of regrowing)
