Urbanization of rural areas in the suburbs of Wroclaw [Poland]

In recent years, especially after the year 1989, there has been a dynamic development of the suburban areas of large Polish cities. Rural areas, mainly those closest to city borders, are subject to spatial and social transformations on a large scale. Intensive transformation processes often lead to conflicts that may be prevented if the changes are diagnosed and described and when optimal solutions are found. These are the objectives of spatial planning policy of commune and of spatial planning. The objective of the present study was to identify the areas of activization in the suburban areas of Wroclaw and to characterize the families which have moved there after the year 1989. A survey prepared by the author was used as a tool in the study. The information gathered was analysed and the conclusions may help local authorities in developing spatial policy of the commune
