Two-year experiment was located in vegetation hall of Agricultural University in Szczecin (Poland). The first factor of experiment was level of magnesium fertilization: 0 g, 0.30 g and 0.90 g of Mg on to flowerpot (Mitscherlich type). The second factor of experiment was level of soil moisture: 30 and 60 percent of maximum water capacity. The content and chemical composition of essential oil was research in herb of Ocimum basilicum L. The herb of tested plant was taken in two time in each year. Results of present study showed that content of essential oil in herb of Ocimum basilicum L. was independent by doses of magnesium fertilization. In second year there was significant effect of soil moisture on the oil content in the herbs of flowering plants. In the oil under study 7 chemical elements wer identifical and their content was determined. In each experimental combination, the highest percentage of linalol was observed in oil composition
