The experiment concerning the soil mulching in fruit tree rows were conducted in 1992-2003 in the Department of Horticulture in Wroclaw of Agricultural University on pseudopodsolic soil, underlaid by light loam, belonging to IIIa class. Together six experiments were conducted: four in apple orchard, one for pear and one for peach trees. In the case of apple trees the effectiveness of soil mulching with: pine bark, black polyethylene foil and non-woven polypropylene was estimated depending on cultivar, type of rootstock, planting trees in ridges and for grafted rootstocks planted directly to the orchard. In experiment with pear trees, using of mulching was tested for trees planted traditionally and in ridges. In a peach orchard the mulching was investigated in different cultivars of this species
