The methods of felling and cross cutting of forest products were compared in poplar plantations. The comparison was made between the harvester - a multifunctional machine and the conventional method of forest product felling and cross cutting (assortment method with the work organization form 1M + 1 R). The analyses were made in the aim of showing the advantage of the modern work technologies in the conditions in which there are no limitations for their implementation. The advantages are multiple and they are not reflected only in the lower operating costs per product unit, but they are also very high from the aspect of work humanization.
