With the aim of vegetative reproduction of steppe cherry (Prunus fruticosa Pall.) under in vitro condition, the isolation and cultivation of shoots of four genotypes (SV1, SV2, SV11 and SV12) were carried out. The influence of a genotype and a nutrient medium on micropragation of steppe cherry was examined. The nutrient medium consisted of mineral solution (MS, DKW or WP), 3% sucrose, 0.8% agar and growth regulators (IBA, BAP, GA3), depending on the growth stage. Micropropagation of steppe cherry, using the method of shoot tip culture to complete plant, is possible, but it depends on genotypes and nutrient media. Results gained in this experiment can be used for the mass production of dwarfing vegetative rootstocks for cherry and sour cherry.
