Most frequent breeding system for African catfish is ponds (mono or polyculture). Experiments proved that this species is suitable for breeding in cages with high density but systems like this one are still not adaptive for commercial production. There is a possibility of breeding African catfish during whole year using thermal waters (results of oil research works), but they are in our country still out of function.
