The paper presents the results of a three-year research into the chemical composition of fruit from 20 myrobalan genotypes selected from the natural population of the Gornje Polimlje region (Montenegro). The research showed that all the selected genotypes differ, from the aspect of the dry matter content, total acids content, cinder content, as well as the content of the total reductable sugars, saccharin, calcium - pectin and vitamin C. The fruit genotypes that have, on one side, a high content of sugar and acids and, on the other, a lower content of pectin, can be recommended for the production of clear fruit-juice. These gebotypes include BP 46, BP 60, BP 79, BP 90, BP 110, BP 116 and BP 128. The BP 126 genotype is characterized by a high content of total acids. At the same time the BP 27 and, especially, BP 128 genotypes are characterized by a wealth of mineral matter. The BP 12, BP 15, BP 16, BP 27 and BP 57 genotypes have a high content of pectin in fruit, which makes them suitable for the production of paps and paps-based products.
