Objective of the paper is to point out more important elements of the development strategy of small and medium size enterprises and entrepreneurship. Special focus is on small and medium size enterprises which are engaged in production and processing of agricultural products and food stuffs. Development of this sector SME is in accordance with efforts of the Government of Serbia for structural adjustment of domestic economy following the examples of market economy in EU countries and using their experiences and experiences of countries in transition. Although the process of privatization had started, in the economy of the Republic of Serbia still large and inefficient enterprises/companies are dominant.
