The paper deals with the levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBS, 28, 52, 101, 138, 180) in the meat of game caught in a region that had been contaminated by substances containing polychlorinated biphenyls ten years ago. PCBS levels were observed in twelve free-living species of huntable game as follows: red deer (Cervus elaphus), roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), mouflon (Ovis musimon), fallow deer (Dama dama), brown hare (Lepus europaeus), ring-necked pheasant {Phasianus colchicus), partridge (Perdix perdix), wild duck (Anas platyrhynchos), fox (Vulpes vulpes), badger (Meles meles) and marten (Martes martes). The assessment was also performed in the domestic dog (Canis familiaris) and domestic cat (Felis catus).
