Over the last 20 years of renovation, remarkable achievements have been recorded in Vietnam agricultural production and rural economy development, which provide strong supports for the country to overcome any crises, stabilize political system and create sound conditions for the development and implementation of agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization. Beside overall science and technology achievements, scientific economic and management studies have also made important contributions, as highlighted in the general report of the Committee, to the 4 key areas: (i) agricultural economics; (ii) agricultural and rural policy development; (iii) market and integration, and (iv) rural development and poverty alleviation. Further more, a number of orientation, tasks and solutions have also been set up to enhance and improve quality of studies on agricultural economics and rural development for the period 2006 - 2010 under the context of increasingly international economies integration and implementation of agriculture and rural industrialization and modernization for a more sustainable growth of national economy, society and environment.
